Nurse Care Specialist

As a Nurse Care Specialist with Broward County Florida, you will play a vital role in delivering medical and nursing care to residents of Broward County. This position requires a strong understanding of nursing principles and the ability to work independently under general supervision.
Responsibilities
• Renders comprehensive general and specialized nursing care to program patients with the assistance of other nursing staff and or ancillary staff.
• Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans; performs physical examinations, makes tentative diagnoses, and treats patients in triage; records patients' medical information and vital signs.
• Directs and supervises nursing and health care personnel or supervises a particular unit on one shift; assumes the role and responsibilities of the charge nurse.
• Administers medications as prescribed by a physician or other health care provider (including injectables); and/or oversees administration of medication from LPN (licensed practical nurse) to patients.
Requirements
• Requires an Associate's degree from an accredited school of nursing, or specialized higher level course work equivalent to two (2) years of college in nursing.
• Licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Florida and current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification at time of hire.
• Possess and maintain a valid Florida Class E Driver's License based on area of assignment.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor or higher degree in Nursing or Related Health Science
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Nursing Specialty Certification (i.e. Psych, Chemical Dependency, Addiction Counseling, Medical Surgical, Critical Care)
• Train the Trainer experience - (i.e. Medication Observation/Assistance)
• Nursing Leadership/Management experience (DON, Nurse Manager, Nurse Supervisor, Clinical Lead)
• Experience with Trauma Informed Care
Work Environment
Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement. Performs light work that involves walking or standing most of the time and involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis, or skill, adeptness and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electronic office machines or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy. Involves routine and frequent exposure to radiation; disease/pathogens.

Emergency Management Responsibilities
