About This Opportunity

Aiken Animal Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist to join our exceptional team. As a key member of our hospital, you will play a vital role in providing excellent customer service, ensuring seamless communication, and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities
  • Receive and place calls to clients for the purpose of scheduling appointments and communicating important information.
  • Prioritize multiple tasks in a calm and organized manner, ensuring timely completion of duties.
  • Maintain proper documentation through client and pet records, including referral documentation, previous medical history, and other relevant information.
  • Assist clients by providing necessary instructions, information, and invoices, as well as dispensing prescription items per the veterinarian's instructions.
  • Schedule all future appointments and utilize hospital computer systems to document medical records and communicate with clients and teammates.
  • Manage the financial needs of the hospital by maintaining accurate balances through collection of client transactions, following cash and credit card handling procedures, and adhering to proper opening and closing procedures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service skills and maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions with clients, pets, and teammates.
  • Advocate for pets through client education on preventative care, pet health needs, treatment recommendations, and hospital services/procedures.
  • Maintain a positive attitude in all interactions and demonstrate empathy toward clients and treat pets with compassion and respect.
Requirements
  • Utilize standard office/business equipment, including computers, phones, and other technology.
  • Knowledge of veterinary medical terminology and procedures is essential.
  • Flexible schedule, including some weekend and vacation shifts, is required.
  • Experience with veterinary software is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and accept direction on given assignments.
  • Possession of organizational skills, critical thinking, and strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good judgment and ability to manage stressful situations.
