Role Responsibilities:
As an Anesthesia Support Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Setup and Coordination: Efficiently prepare all anesthesia cases with necessary supplies and equipment in a timely manner.
  • Material Delivery: Ensure appropriate materials and specialized equipment are delivered to operating rooms as needed, while attending mandatory safety inservices and troubleshooting any equipment or process issues.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of non-disposable supplies and sterile items, ensuring par levels are consistently met. Collaborate with purchasing to order and store supplies properly.
  • Operational Monitoring: Track the progress of all operating rooms, noting staff assignments and cancellations, and coordinate daily schedules with the Operating Room Coordinator.
  • Charge Completion: Ensure that department charges are accurately completed.
  • Training and Development: Orient new hires and serve as a technical resource for staff, assisting management with competency development and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Equipment Consultation: Collaborate with the Chief of Anesthesia on acquisition needs and meet with sales representatives regarding equipment purchases.
  • Cost Evaluation: Assess cost comparisons and recommend items for trial to the Value Analysis Committee, working with the Business Manager on capital purchases.
  • Maintenance Confirmation: Verify the monthly maintenance of essential machinery.
  • Job Competency: Maintain competency on specialized equipment in accordance with hospital policies.
  • Data Entry: Utilize computer systems to enter blood work, blood gases, anesthesia charges, and supplies, ensuring proper procedures for retrieving and delivering blood products.
  • Performance Standards: Meet performance expectations for customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal development as outlined in performance reviews.

Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Experience: Minimum of one year of experience in anesthesia or a related field required.
Licensure: BLS certification required.
Special Skills: CPR certification, Anesthesia Technician certification, and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
