Role Responsibilities:
As an Anesthesia Support Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • 1. Setup and Coordination: Efficiently prepare all anesthesia cases with the necessary supplies and equipment, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • 2. Equipment Management: Deliver specialized materials and equipment to operating rooms as required, participate in mandatory safety training, and troubleshoot any equipment or procedural issues.
  • 3. Inventory Control: Maintain an organized inventory of non-disposable and sterile supplies, ensuring par levels are consistently met and collaborating with purchasing for timely orders.
  • 4. Operating Room Monitoring: Track the progress of all operating rooms, manage staff assignments for add-ons or cancellations, and coordinate the daily schedule with the Operating Room Coordinator.
  • 5. Charge Management: Ensure that departmental charges are accurately completed.
  • 6. Training and Development: Orient new hires and serve as a technical resource for all staff, assisting the manager in developing and monitoring yearly competencies.
  • 7. Quality Improvement: Collaborate with management on quality improvement initiatives and special projects.
  • 8. Equipment Acquisition: Consult with the Chief of Anesthesia regarding equipment needs and engage with sales representatives for procurement.
  • 9. Cost Evaluation: Assess cost comparisons and recommend items for trial to the Value Analysis Committee, working with the Business Manager on capital purchases.
  • 10. Maintenance Assurance: Confirm the monthly maintenance of all relevant machinery.
  • 11. Competency Maintenance: Uphold job competency on specialized equipment in accordance with hospital policies.
  • 12. Data Management: Utilize computer systems to enter blood work, blood gases, anesthesia charges, and supplies, ensuring proper procedures for blood product retrieval and delivery.
  • 13. Performance Standards: Meet performance expectations in customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal development as outlined in performance reviews.

Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience: A minimum of one year of experience in anesthesia or a related field is required.
Licensure: BLS certification is required.
Special Skills: CPR certification, Anesthesia Technician certification, and knowledge of medical terminology are preferred.
