Job Summary

Milliken and Company is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Range Operator to join our team. As a Range Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our production range, while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all required paperwork is completed accurately and effectively.
  • Lead team shift meetings and communicate with team members to ensure a smooth and efficient operation.
  • Use current computer software and hardware to process designated rolls and documentation in MES.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Production Manager as necessary.

Production Responsibilities

  • Run the range while operators are on breaks or when operators are out as directed by the department manager.
  • Handle shift change discussions and verify proper shift change activity.
  • Communicate potential downtime issues with the Supervisor.
  • Facilitate start-up, processing, shutdown, and changeovers.
  • Ensure the shift is properly manned and run the job if necessary.
  • Communicate if all necessary supplies are not available for the next shift.
  • Ensure the handling of fabric rolls is according to our inventory rules.
  • Give direction to shift shop personnel.
  • Communicate performance expectations and results with the Supervisor.
  • Develop and maintain a respectful workplace.

Quality Responsibilities

  • Investigate and communicate quality concerns.
  • Perform process audits after start-up or style changes and facilitate communication to the process improvement group.
  • Conduct audits of various types as instructed.
  • Monitor product quality and take appropriate action when not meeting specifications.
  • Apply good judgment on when to involve management concerning an issue.
  • Document non-conforming material.
  • Authorize process deviations and complete proper paperwork.
  • Assist Production Managers and Process Improvement Department in resolving customer complaints.
  • Inspect fabric on exit of the range according to range grading specifications and document on Inspection report.
  • Ensure headers are transported to lab as specified on Process Specifications.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Perform MQSP audits and document and correct safety issues.
  • Handle safety and environmental incidents according to policy.
  • Be a first responder.
  • Facilitate emergency response procedures and communicate to appropriate management associates.
  • Understand the environmental impacts and aspects of job-related activities and follow established Valway and Milliken & Company guidelines.

Training Responsibilities

  • Monitor the instruction, discussion, and completion of all on-the-job training documents of new associates and assist if necessary.
  • Identify when an operator should be retrained in certain areas and assist in the retraining if necessary.
  • Must be certified on all sections of the range.
