Position Overview

The Kentucky Personnel Cabinet is seeking a dedicated Family Support Specialist I to join our team. This role is pivotal in providing essential services to families and individuals in need of public assistance programs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct interviews with clients, both in person and via phone, for various public assistance programs.
  • Collect, complete, and review necessary documentation to ensure compliance and eligibility.
  • Engage in formal training and on-the-job learning to enhance service delivery.
  • Monitor processing timelines to ensure timely case management and hearings.
  • Identify resources and make appropriate referrals to support client needs.
  • Utilize computer systems to maintain accurate case records and enter relevant information.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience in public-facing roles.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • The capacity to perform well under pressure.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a team.
Additional Information

This position requires a fingerprint-based criminal background check due to access to sensitive information. The Kentucky Personnel Cabinet also participates in E-Verify to confirm employment eligibility.

Education and Experience

Education: Completion of two years (54 semester hours) from an accredited college or university is required.

Experience: No prior experience is necessary; however, relevant administrative or public assistance experience may substitute for educational requirements on a year-for-year basis.

Working Conditions

This role may involve office work as well as home visits to clients.

Probationary Period

All new hires will undergo a probationary period of six months.
