- Maintain a safe and inclusive environment for all students.
- Participate in team meetings and professional development sessions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or school administration.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Associates degree or higher in education or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in working with children.
- Virginia Paraprofessional Certification: Must meet one of the following:
- Hold an associate's degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Complete at least 60 college semester credits.
- Pass the Virginia Assessments for the Certification of Educators (VACE) or a similar approved assessment.
- CPR and First Aid Certification: Preferred but can be obtained after hiring.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
- Ability to kneel, bend, and reach as necessary to assist students.
- Full-time position during the school year.
- Hours may vary based on school schedules and needs.
- Work primarily in a school setting, with occasional outdoor supervision.
