Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radiology Imaging Specialist to join our team at Kaiser Permanente's Tysons Corner Medical Center. As an Interventional Radiology Technologist, you will play a critical role in performing routine and highly specialized diagnostic and therapeutic interventional radiology procedures on patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre- and Post-Patient Assessment: Assist with pre and post-patient assessment, patient teaching, and patient care within the scope of practice.
  • Procedure Assistance: Assist physicians with a range of procedures using fluoroscopic imaging that require the use of contrast media.
  • Radiation Safety: Use proper radiation safety measures to conform to the ALARA principle according to departmental Radiation Safety Policies & Procedures.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Prepare work schedules to ensure sufficient staff is available for patient appointments.
  • Patient Education and Consent: Ensure that staff explains Interventional Radiology procedures to patients and that consent forms are obtained. Actively participate in the Universal Protocol for all procedures.
  • Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Provide training and guidance to ensure that equipment is properly and safely operated. Troubleshoot technical and mechanical problems and perform minor maintenance on equipment.
  • Inventory Management: Order equipment, film, and supplies and ensure that inventories are properly managed.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Review and submit reports showing the number and type of examinations conducted.
  • Quality Control and Assurance: Perform QC Lead duties as an Interventional Radiology Technologist as required.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with patients, nurses, and physicians, particularly regarding information on angiography procedures requiring specialized patient preparation.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Maintain proper documentation for internal and external Regulatory compliance.
Requirements:
  • Education: Graduate of a certified/accredited ARRT program required. High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Experience: Minimum three (3) years of recent (within the last 12 months) experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital supporting fluoroscopy and c-arm/surgical procedures.
  • Certifications and Licenses: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Cardiac Interventional Radiography within 24 months of hire OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Vascular Interventional Radiography within 24 months of hire OR American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Cardiovascular Interventional Radiography within 24 months of hire. Radiologic Technologist Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Basic Life Support.
