Position Overview:
The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) plays a crucial role in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of individuals experiencing challenges with speech, language, cognitive communication, voice, and swallowing functions.
This role also encompasses the responsibilities of providing consultation, education, and training to patients and their families.Key Responsibilities:
As an SLP, your expertise will be essential in the following areas:
- Conducting comprehensive speech therapy evaluations and developing tailored treatment plans for both inpatient and outpatient populations.
- Collaborating closely with the Physical Medicine Director to synchronize speech therapy initiatives with other healthcare disciplines, while also contributing to the growth of departmental programs, community outreach, physician engagement, budget considerations, and administrative functions.
- Working autonomously with minimal interaction with fellow Speech Language Pathologists.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
- A Master’s degree in Speech Pathology, which is mandatory.
- A valid license to practice speech-language pathology in the State of Colorado.
- Certification of Clinical Competency (CCC) and completion of required clinical internships to demonstrate clinical proficiency.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as endorsed by the American Heart Association, to be obtained during the unit-specific orientation.
- Preferred: A minimum of six months of experience in an acute care environment, including familiarity with Modified Barium Swallow Studies.
Physical Demands:
Essential physical capabilities include hearing, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, visual acuity, sitting, speaking, squatting/kneeling, and standing.
