Speech Language Pathologist Job Description

Mass General Brigham is seeking a skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team in Brighton, MA.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Speech Language Pathologist to provide evaluation and treatment services for patients with speech, language, and swallowing disorders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in clinical care and expertise in the diagnosis and remediation of oropharyngeal dysphagia and neurogenic communication disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Provide skilled speech-language and swallowing services to patients at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Dana Farber Cancer Institute.
  • Examine and evaluate patients' communication and swallowing function using clinical evaluations, videofluoroscopic oropharyngeal swallowing evaluations, and fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallow (FEES).
  • Develop treatment plans with treatment goals directed towards maximizing function in collaboration with patients and caregivers.
  • Consult with other members of the healthcare team to ensure coordination and effectiveness of therapies provided.
  • Assist in implementation of triaging, prioritizing, monitoring admissions, referrals, and discharges to and from the service as assigned.
  • Manage patient caseload assigned.
  • Participate in activities directed towards increasing knowledge and skill and professional development.
  • Participate in departmental meetings to formulate policies, procedures, and program development.
  • Supervise graduate student interns and support personnel as appropriate.
  • Peer-mentor new employees.
  • Train radiology residents in technique and procedures for video swallow studies.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited university program.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.
  • Possess or be eligible for licensure in Speech-Language Pathology from the state of Massachusetts.
  • Demonstrate expertise in the diagnosis and remediation of oropharyngeal dysphagia and neurogenic communication disorders preferred.
  • Experience with video fluoroscopic oropharyngeal swallowing and FEES evaluations preferred.
