Position Overview:

The Financial Controller is responsible for managing the accounting functions within the region, ensuring that all financial records are maintained accurately and that reports are generated in a timely manner. This role is crucial in adhering to generally accepted accounting principles, ensuring that the financial statements accurately represent the organization's financial health.

In collaboration with the Regional Vice President and other key stakeholders, the Controller evaluates regional performance and identifies areas for enhancement, ensuring that strategic decisions are made in the best interest of the organization.

This position also plays a vital role in overseeing acquisition activities, facilitating a seamless transition in financial and operational processes.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee the collection and consolidation of financial data necessary for accurate reporting of business results and effective execution of strategic plans.

2. Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and enhance departmental productivity.

3. Provide essential financial insights to management to support informed decision-making.

4. Assess the efficiency of accounting software used in daily operations and recommend improvements.

5. Review current accounting practices, propose enhancements, and ensure successful implementation and training.

6. Develop benchmarks to evaluate operational performance.

7. Conduct financial analyses for capital investments, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations.

8. Support regional staff with financial analysis and performance tracking to enhance divisional support.

9. Manage the forecasting and budgeting processes for divisions to align with organizational objectives and identify areas for improvement.

10. Engage in the recruitment, training, and retention of skilled accounting personnel.

11. Guide the financial aspects of the acquisition process, ensuring compliance with agreements and accurate interim reporting.

12. Exhibit strong leadership by adhering to all relevant policies, setting clear objectives, coaching team members, and fostering professional development.

13. Participate in ongoing training and learning opportunities to deepen knowledge of the organization and its offerings, while fulfilling other duties that align with the company's vision and core values.


Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, along with 8-10 years of relevant accounting experience. A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential.

While not mandatory, a master's degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline, as well as experience or interest in environmental or sustainability sectors, is preferred.

Proficiency in strategic thinking and the development of complex financial models is critical. Strong relationship management, communication, organizational, and prioritization skills are required.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and experience with financial ERP systems like NetSuite are advantageous.

A solid understanding of GAAP regulations and comprehensive knowledge of accounting and financial processes are essential for success in this role.
