ROLE SUMMARY:

The newly established position of Accounting Manager is accountable for preparing financial information in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), ensuring robust financial controls are maintained, and interpreting both operational and financial data. This role requires collaboration across departments to deliver valuable business insights.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in financial accounting or a related field
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in accounting, auditing, taxation, or a similar environment
  • Experience with US GAAP, managing a financial close process, preparing consolidated financial statements, and handling tax compliance activities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with Oracle Financials, SAP, JD Edwards, or other enterprise accounting systems
  • Ability to write reports (financial statement footnotes, accounting memos)
  • Strong communication skills

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS PREFERRED:

  • Active CPA license (strongly preferred)
  • Two (2) or more years in a senior accountant or managerial role
  • General familiarity with PowerPoint and database reporting tools such as Cyberquery is advantageous
  • Experience with multiple currencies and foreign entities is a plus
  • Background in travel and hospitality is beneficial

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Accounting Manager will report to the Director of Accounting and Tax and will be responsible for the following:

  • Financial Reporting and Accounting:
    • Assist the Director of Accounting and Tax in ensuring that daily and transactional accounting is accurate and compliant with US GAAP
    • Conduct accounting research and recommend accounting treatments for transactions
    • Coordinate and oversee the month-end and year-end financial close processes to ensure timely completion and accuracy of reporting to the parent company
    • Serve as the primary contact for external auditors during audits or similar engagements
  • Analyze financial reports.
  • Support the Director of Accounting and Tax in ensuring compliance with required tax filings.
  • Propose process improvements to enhance departmental efficiency and reduce administrative costs.
  • Mentor and develop associates by addressing various accounting inquiries and reinforcing company policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, adapting to the evolving nature of the role.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

The Finance department, led by the Chief Financial Officer, is dedicated to both safeguarding and expanding the business. It comprises three groups: (1) Treasury (including Revenue Accounting and Payroll), (2) Forecasting, Planning & Analysis (including Cost Accounting and Budgeting), and (3) Accounting and Tax (including Financial Accounting, Tax, Accounts Payable, and Oracle Financial System Support). The department is responsible for delivering strategic insights and supporting our strategic goals through critical processes such as the monthly, quarterly, and annual publication of financial results, processing vendor invoices, managing tax and accounting compliance, and conducting financial analysis.
