Financial Access Specialist 1

UW Medicine is seeking a highly skilled Financial Access Specialist 1 to join our team. As a key member of our Financial Access Clearance Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless insurance clearance processes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate insurance clearance processes for inpatient and outpatient services
  • Verify patient eligibility and benefits, and document progress in EPIC auth/cert and REG
  • Refer uninsured patients for Medicaid/Charity eligibility screening, and communicate with providers to obtain referrals or initiate authorization
  • Prepare estimates of fees and review payment options with patients
  • Collect payments and process using cash drawer in EPIC
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED certificate, plus one year of experience in a medical office setting
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
