Academic Professional and Administrative Position

We are seeking a highly qualified Part-Time Instructor to teach designated courses in the Department of Design Innovation (DESI) at the University of Minnesota. The successful candidate will have a strong background in retail merchandising and the ability to deliver high-quality instruction to students.
Responsibilities- Teach courses in graphic design, retail merchandising, apparel design, interior design, UX design, and College of Design Common Core.
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and assessments to meet student learning outcomes.
- Hold office hours to support student learning and provide individualized feedback.
- Participate in department committees and contribute to the development of curriculum and programs.
- A Master's or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, plus substantial professional recognition in the subject area.
- Professional teaching experience with a focus in retail merchandising.
- Evidence of competence to teach in content area.
- Proven excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Evidence of attention to cultural diversity in teaching.
The Department of Design Innovation is one of two academic departments in the College of Design, serving over 700 undergraduate majors and 70 graduate students. We offer undergraduate and graduate programs in design, fashion studies, housing studies, human factors and ergonomics, museum studies, retail merchandising, and product design.
