Position Overview

Job Title: Middle School Mathematics & Science Educator

Classification: Exempt

Employment Status: Full-time

Reporting Structure: Reports to the School Principal

Role Summary: The middle school educator is responsible for teaching Mathematics and Science to students in grades 6, 7, and 8. Responsibilities include developing lesson plans, assigning and evaluating homework, managing classroom behavior, and maintaining communication with families throughout the academic year.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Instructs students in fundamental Mathematics and Science concepts through engaging learning activities.
  • Exhibits a strong understanding of the established curriculum, current educational methodologies, and technological resources to cater to diverse student learning preferences and achieve significant educational outcomes as outlined in lesson plans.
  • Ensures a safe, organized, and productive classroom environment through effective student supervision.
  • Familiarity with emergency protocols, school policies, and classroom regulations is essential.
  • Structures daily instructional time to maximize learning within designated periods; prepares weekly lesson plans with suitable instructional materials; provides comprehensive instructions for substitute educators in case of absence.
  • Implements fair and timely grading practices, maintains attendance records, and regularly updates digital platforms as required by the institution. Evaluates and grades assignments and assessments promptly.
  • Maintains regular communication with students and parents regarding schedules, assignments, events, and individual student progress. Engages with parents during scheduled conferences throughout the academic year.
  • Assesses each student's advancement in knowledge and skills related to science; keeps accurate records; prepares, administers, scores, and documents assessments; generates progress reports and report cards.
  • Upholds confidentiality regarding school and workplace matters, including online interactions. Adheres to all policies outlined in the teacher's handbook.
  • Engages in continuous professional development, adheres to ethical standards, and demonstrates leadership and sound judgment. Collaborates with colleagues in setting instructional goals and strategies.
  • Participates in all required training sessions and faculty meetings.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities as assigned by the principal or Pastor.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Mathematics, Science, or a related field.
  • Candidates must possess or be eligible for a Pennsylvania Middle-Level certification.
Pre-Interview Requirements: Candidates must provide clearances from the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check, as mandated by state law. Attendance at the online Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training is also required.

  • Experience working with children is preferred.
  • A solid understanding of child development and the skills necessary to connect with students is essential.
  • The ability to manage classroom dynamics with fairness and patience is crucial.
  • Strong writing skills and effective communication abilities with students and staff are necessary.
