Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Middle School Mathematics Instructor to join our team at the Diocese of Allentown. As a Mathematics and Science Educator, you will be responsible for teaching Math and Science to grades 6, 7, and 8.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching and Curriculum Development: Create and implement engaging lesson plans, assign and grade homework, and assess student progress in Math and Science.
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain a safe, orderly, and effective learning environment, supervising students and ensuring their well-being.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues, sharing information about schedules, assignments, and individual student needs.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Evaluate student progress, keep accurate records, and prepare progress reports and report cards.
  • Professional Growth and Development: Engage in ongoing professional development, adhering to professional standards and demonstrating leadership and sound judgment.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Mathematics, Science, or a related field.
  • Certification: Hold or be eligible for a PA Middle-Level certificate.
  • Clearances: Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience working with children, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Child Development Understanding: Understanding of child development and the skills necessary to relate to students being taught.
  • Communication Skills: Good writing skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students and colleagues.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time, contracted position with normal work hours from 7:15 a.m. to 3:15 p.m., Monday through Friday. May be required to assist with special duties and work outside the normal school day to attend school-related events.
