Position Overview


The Biomedical Technician II is responsible for responding to service requests to assess, troubleshoot, and conduct repairs or scheduled maintenance on increasingly sophisticated biomedical devices, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through exceptional service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess intricate biomedical equipment challenges and execute necessary repairs.
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance, safety evaluations, and uphold strong customer relationships.
  • Adhere to and guide others on relevant GE policies, procedures, and hospital protocols while completing required documentation.
  • Communicate effectively and collaborate with team members and colleagues.
  • Initiate and maintain proactive daily communications with clients to ensure issue resolution and follow-up, leading to enhanced customer satisfaction.
  • Implement GE/customer facility agreements, aligning with business objectives.
  • Mentor and support technicians in both basic and advanced repair tasks.
  • Collaborate as part of a local team to deliver efficient service across all assigned accounts.
  • Share on-call responsibilities as required.
  • Document all repair activities and submit reports in a timely manner.
  • Ensure proper management of spare parts, tools, and testing equipment, including calibration.
  • Maintain an approved inventory of parts.
  • Oversee vendor service delivery processes in accordance with GE policies, as directed.
  • Continuously enhance and maintain technical expertise in current standards, codes, and procedures for the safe and effective operation of medical equipment through formal training.
  • May take on the role of Site Leader, directing the activities of fellow Biomedical Technicians at the site and engaging in a more interactive customer relationship, which may include participation in safety committees or other account activities.
  • Comply with Health and Human Services, Environmental Health and Safety standards, and any other applicable regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, along with 2 years of experience in servicing medical equipment;
  • OR equivalent military training and 2 years of experience in servicing electrical or mechanical devices;
  • OR High School Diploma/GED with 4 years of experience in medical equipment servicing.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical issues to clients in an understandable manner.
  • The selected candidate must pass GEHC's standard background check, including a post-offer drug screening. During employment, adherence to all customer access policies is required, including obtaining and/or providing proof of necessary immunizations and undergoing additional drug tests or background checks as mandated.
  • Special Physical Requirements:
Candidates must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 35 lbs. without assistance and frequently bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, crouching, kneeling, sitting, and standing for extended periods.

Candidates should also be able to reach at, above, and below shoulder level, flex/extend their neck, and possess good hand and finger dexterity. Specific vision abilities required for this role may include color vision, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.


  • Availability for "after hours" work or participation in a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends, for urgent issues and coverage as needed.
