Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Assistant II/Classroom Support Specialist to join our team at Mt. Diablo Unified School District. As a key member of our instructional support services team, you will provide specialized support to students with diverse needs in various educational settings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with Instructional Team: Regularly communicate with teachers and other support staff regarding student performance and progress.
  • Support Student Learning: Assist students with specific tasks and accommodate their special needs to ensure optimal learning outcomes.
  • Supervise Student Activities: Oversee student activities, outdoor events, and provide guidance on gross motor skills and independent mobility.
  • Recordkeeping and Clerical Duties: Maintain accurate records and perform various clerical tasks to support the instructional team.
  • Community-Based Instruction: Assist with community-based instruction and travel to different locations as needed.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Equivalent to high school graduation and experience working with students or related coursework. Completion of proficiency examination or appropriate certification.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Subject matter and instructional procedures, differences in children, classroom procedures and equipment, special needs of students, learning reinforcement and behavior modification techniques, diversity in student backgrounds, and effective communication.
  • Licenses and Certifications: May require a valid California Driver's License and meet proficiency requirements for First Aid and CPR.
Work Environment

This position is based in school settings, working with students in special education. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to perform duties with or without accommodation and interpret rules and policies.
