Are you enthusiastic about enhancing quality and food safety protocols? E&J Gallo Winery is on the lookout for a Senior Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team and spearhead continuous enhancement initiatives. Your role will involve establishing Quality and Food Safety programs and standards while providing regional leadership to ensure that facilities and processes adhere to documented company standards and ISO requirements. You will offer direct support to the Modesto Quality and Food Safety team, including regional assistance for Spirits (Brandy), Livingston, and Turner Road Vintners.

Key Responsibilities

Innovate:
  • Develop and implement operational food safety and quality standards, procedures, systems, and strategies that align with corporate policies.
  • Oversee the creation of prerequisite programs necessary for compliance with food safety certifications at all relevant E. & J. Gallo facilities and targeted co-manufacturers.
  • Provide expert support for HACCP and food safety programs across the organization.
  • Design and execute validation and verification programs to ensure brand protection and specification compliance.
Collaborate:
  • Offer support and expertise to Engineering, Beverage-making, Maintenance, and Quality and Food Safety teams to ensure compliance with company and industry sanitary design standards.
  • Conduct internal audits and corrective actions with facilities and suppliers, generate gap plans, and assist in developing site work instructions and programs.
  • Communicate corporate performance standards and identify continuous improvement opportunities for program KPIs metrics.
  • Apply and interpret statistical techniques as necessary for plant issues, utilizing risk analysis, sampling protocols, and statistical methods to drive improvements.
Lead:
  • Direct cross-functional efforts to identify root causes and corrective actions for quality or food safety-related issues, collaborating with the Product Incident Process to promote enterprise continuous improvement.
  • Conduct internal audits and corrective actions with facilities and suppliers, generate gap plans, and assist in developing site work instructions and programs.
  • Provide governance for food safety systems (ISO FSSC) and enterprise Quality and Food Safety for the region.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of experience in production/operations, food/beverage, sanitation, engineering, product development, or quality assurance, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility; OR a High School Diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 10 years of experience in production/operations, food/beverage sanitation, or quality assurance, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment or products weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Food Science, Agricultural Science, Microbiology, Enology, or Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical) with 6 years of relevant experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in the same fields with 9 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in interpreting and analyzing a wide range of technical instructions/specifications in mathematical or diagram form for equipment, managing several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Knowledge of thermal processing of food and beverages and canning processes.
  • Experience in project management and experimental design.
  • Familiarity with aseptic packaging and manufacturing operations.
  • Direct knowledge of sanitation, sanitary design, and food microbiology in a food and beverage manufacturing context.
Compensation :
  • Salary Range: $105,400 - $158,000 / year, with actual compensation determined by factors such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and market alignment.
