Job Summary

The Senior Mechanical Designer will be responsible for designing, detailing, and documenting mechanical components and systems for STERIS' Infection Prevention Technology business. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and sustain complex equipment used in hospitals worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical components and systems with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to resolve design problems and improve product performance.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Utilize design tools, such as CREO, AutoCAD, and Altium, to create and manage designs within STERIS' Product Lifecycle Management systems.
  • Provide accurate effort estimates and execute design efforts on-time.
  • Plan, develop, and execute engineering and verification test protocols using good lab practices and documentation.
  • Communicate effectively with vendors, sourcing, manufacturing, service, and other functions to realize designs.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in Mechanical Design.
  • Technical Associate's degree, drafting certification, or vocational training preferred.
  • Proficiency with advanced functions of technical software design packages (CREO, AutoCAD, Altium).
  • Expertise in product lifecycle management through release and change management documentation.
  • Experience designing in multiple manufacturing methods within the technical function (machining, injection molding, cable harnesses, PCBAs).
  • Hand-on aptitude within the technical area of expertise (oscilloscopes, calipers, hand tools, multimeters).
  • Proficient in Microsoft products; Excel, Word, Project, and Power Point.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
