We are seeking a highly skilled Refrigeration Technician to join our team at Perdue Farms. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and rebuilding refrigeration, boiler, and compressed air equipment in our production areas.
Key Responsibilities- Troubleshoot and repair refrigeration equipment, including air compressors, to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
- Operate and maintain all refrigeration equipment, including reading and interpreting manufacturers' manuals and safety policies.
- Adjust machines to operate at established performance standards and provide work direction and training to lower-level operators and technicians.
- Work independently to troubleshoot and repair refrigeration department equipment or related production equipment, performing emergency shutdowns, startups, and restarts as needed.
- Must wear personal protective equipment and perform job duties within established company OSHA safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout.
- Must have a clear understanding of refrigerant expansion and pressure-temperature variables.
- Must be able to direct and train operators and have working knowledge of departmental PCs.
- Must perform as a Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) team member after certification from Perdue.
- Troubleshoot and repair Refrigeration and Ammonia problems, as well as Electrical Controls on the Refrigeration and Ammonia Systems.
- Maintain all engine rooms, compressor rooms, and roof areas in a high state of cleanliness at all times.
- High school or equivalent.
- 8+ years of experience in refrigeration maintenance, with certifications in Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator (CARO) and Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator (CIRO).
- Familiarization with Process Safety Management (PSM), respirator training, confined space entry, and other safety programs.
- Ability to read and use dial gauges, micrometers, etc. in the alignment of motors, pumps, etc.
- Experience in ammonia or Freon refrigeration, boiler operations, and compressed air.
- Reading and analytical skills.
When in a plant environment, you will be exposed to wet and moist floors, temperatures ranging from 28 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, and 100% humidity. You may handle product at temperatures between 25 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit and be exposed to noise ranges of 50 db to 110 db. You may also be exposed to dust, feathers, and chemicals used in poultry and food processing.
You must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company. Occasional exposure to carbon dioxide vapors and chlorine may occur.
Able to stand for several hours and work may include lifting up to 50 lbs, reaching, bending, and pushing boxes on conveyor assembly.
