Development Accounting Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Development Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the period-end close process for properties under development, preparing construction draws for development projects, and preparing schedules for internal and external auditors. This position will work closely with internal departments and external vendors to ensure timely processing of draw documentation and compliance with contractual funding and payment requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsible for all accounting and reporting duties related to communities under development, including monthly draws, pre-development cost reports, job cost coding review, project setup, and other related tasks.
• Main point of contact for development managers, lenders, contractors, and university construction/accounting partners to facilitate timely processing of draw documentation.
• Read and understand development agreements and ground leases to ensure compliance with all requirements for reporting and scheduling.
• Collaborate with internal team to complete period-end close process for development entities, including review of general ledger and preparation of period-end reports, journal entries, bank reconciliations, and other related tasks.
• Prepare budgets for development fee revenue, capitalized interest, depreciation, salaries for pre-development, and other items as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• 4+ years accounting experience, preferably in development or construction accounting.
• Knowledge of GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley preferred.
• Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in Excel.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and leadership skills.
• Project and time management skills.
• Systematic, detailed, organized approach to work, with a curious, creative approach to challenges.
