About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of the Central Procurement Office to join our team at the Port of Seattle. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership, direction, and oversight to our procurement and contract management functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Central Procurement Office, ensuring alignment with the Port's strategic plans and goals.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies that promote efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Lead the development and implementation of comprehensive training programs for procurement and contract management staff.
  • Manage and oversee the procurement and contract management process, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to identify and implement process improvements and innovations.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to the team, ensuring that they have the necessary resources and support to perform their duties effectively.
Requirements
  • 8 years of experience in procurement, grants, and/or contracting, including alternative public works construction contracts, data analytics, and/or strategic planning.
  • 4 years of experience supervising staff and managing a function in procurement, data analytics, and/or strategic planning.
  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or public administration, or equivalent experience.
  • Professional certifications from the National Institute of Government Procurement (NIGP) or equivalent experience.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
