Safety Specialist

Metal Components LLC is seeking a highly skilled Safety Specialist to join our team. This role is responsible for ensuring a safe working environment and preventing injuries and accidents in the workplace.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational health and safety, with experience in conducting risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and departmental audits. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with leadership, co-workers, and supervisors.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and develop corrective actions.
- Develop and implement training programs to educate employees on occupational safety and health procedures.
- Collaborate with the facility and manufacturing engineering team to identify and address safety and ergonomic needs.
- Coordinate and facilitate industrial hygiene testing, audiometric testing, and other safety-related activities.
- Investigate and analyze workplace accidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Develop and maintain accurate records of workplace injuries and illnesses, and provide regular reports to management.
- Stay up-to-date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, and ensure compliance with all applicable requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, or a related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in a safety-related role, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Certificate in occupational health and safety, or a related field, is highly desirable.
- Excellent knowledge of MIOSHA regulations and standards, with the ability to apply this knowledge in a practical setting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to non-technical stakeholders.

The physical demands of this role include standing, walking, and using hands to feel or handle objects. The employee must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds, and have good vision, hearing, and speech.
This role requires the use of safety equipment, including eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and protective shoes/boots. Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted.
