Quality Control Technician

Responsibilities:
  • Approve incoming materials by verifying specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Verify in-process production by confirming required specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating necessary adjustments to the production supervisor.
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment at the PCB level.
  • Assist customers via phone and email with the installation and troubleshooting of fire alarm panels.
  • Verify all finished products by confirming specifications and conducting required tests.
  • Return products for re-work if necessary and complete documentation to confirm re-work.
  • Document and update inspection results by completing reports and logs.
  • Inspect standard fabricated parts.
  • Utilize measurement tools to validate parts (micrometers, calipers, height gage, thread gage, scales, pin gages, etc.).
  • Process all appropriate job paperwork for in-process inspection operations.
  • Ensure all inspection equipment is maintained and controlled with the calibration technician.
  • Support inspection of any design changes to ensure changes are made correctly.
  • Support any project inspection needs defined by QC management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Vocational, trade, or high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Associate Degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience.
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification as Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA) is preferred.
  • 2+ years of related work experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to become knowledgeable regarding all products manufactured by USSC Group.
  • Proficient at reading drawings and use of hand tools.
  • Proficient in soldering through-hole and SMT components.
  • Must demonstrate competence with the use of precision measuring equipment described above.
  • Proficient in current computer software: MS Applications Word, Excel, and understanding of ERP systems is preferred.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including accurate spelling, punctuation, and grammar for producing error-free letters, reports, and decision-making documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects including analytical thinking, planning, prioritizing, problem solving, decision making, and carrying out tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced, team environment, under pressure with time constraints while responding and adapting to change favorably and quickly.
  • Ability to think out of the box and work without excessive supervision.
  • Lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for up to 12 hours a day is something you can handle.
  • Able to travel if required (minimal travel expected).
