Job Description

We are seeking highly motivated engineering students to join our team as an intern at BAE Systems USA. As a software developer intern, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects and develop skills in software design and coding.

Our team develops state-of-the-art software for sensor-data processing, analysis, storage, and visualization for challenging problems in the areas of video analytics, image processing, and other temporal data sources. We utilize advanced techniques for data science, machine learning, computer vision, statistical analysis, and cloud computing to discover hidden patterns in big data.

Responsibilities
  • Implementing new features in our web-based, cloud, and server-based products.
  • Investigating new technologies and open-source software for inclusion into our products.
  • Designing new enhancements to our software.
  • Working with a mentor to learn about software principles and technical development.
  • Development in Python, C, Java, and/or JavaScript.
Requirements
  • Enrolled in an accredited engineering/technical undergraduate or graduate degree program pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mathematics.
  • Basic understanding of and skills in software design and coding, including object-oriented analysis and design.
  • Exposure to at least one of Python, C, Java, or JavaScript.
Preferred Skills
  • Course work in Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Architecture, Computer Graphics, Computer Networking, Data Science, Database Systems, Machine Learning, Operating Systems, UI/UX Design, or Cloud technologies.
  • Familiarity with software development/engineering, including requirements analysis, software development, installation, integration, evaluation, enhancement, maintenance, testing, and problem diagnosis/resolution.
  • Experience with IDEs such as Visual Studio, PyCharm, or NetBeans.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as git.
  • Experience with build systems such as cmake, Maven, or Ant.
  • Experience with one or more of image processing, data science, or machine learning.
Pay Information

Full-time salary range: $59,700

Please note that this range is based on our market pay structures and individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors, including business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications.

Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan.

Temporary employees working 20 hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
