Position Overview:
As a Facility Custodian, you will play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness, safety, and upkeep of the school environment. Your responsibilities will encompass sanitation, security, and basic repairs within the designated areas of the school.
Work Schedule:
The standard working hours for this position are typically from 11:30 am to 8:00 pm. However, flexibility may be required to accommodate school events and other operational needs.
Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time position with an hourly wage starting at $22.93, commensurate with experience. Benefits include employer-sponsored medical, dental, short-term and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, and paid time off. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily cleaning tasks, including waste disposal, recycling management, and thorough sanitation of all school facilities, such as classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas. This includes deep cleaning and floor maintenance as required.
- Assist staff, students, and community members utilizing the facilities during your shift, including setting up and dismantling audio-visual equipment, moving furniture, and providing support as needed.
- Manage building operations for events, ensuring proper setup, cleanup, and access control.
- Secure the premises and areas containing valuable equipment.
- Perform safety inspections and operational checks, addressing hazards, pest issues, and reporting any concerns to your supervisor.
- Execute minor maintenance and repair tasks throughout the property, including painting, plumbing, and general upkeep of the grounds.
- Maintain communication with the Custodian and Facility Lead regarding departmental needs and supplies.
- Participate in seasonal and project cleaning and maintenance as directed by management.
- Support various trades in their duties and respond to emergency maintenance requests as necessary.
- Deliver supplies and materials across campus as required.
- Carry out other job-related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- No prior experience is necessary; however, experience in cleaning, chemical handling, and customer service is advantageous.
- A criminal background check is mandatory for employment.
- Safety and pesticide training must be completed within six months of hire, with ongoing training as required.
- Basic problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate various cleaning equipment effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Capability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Willingness to adjust work hours in response to weather conditions or school activities.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to follow school policies and procedures while promoting a safe work environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with an appreciation for diversity.
- Commitment to workplace safety and reporting unsafe conditions.
