Job Title: Manufacturing / Mechanical Engineer

BWXT is seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing / Mechanical Engineer to join our Advanced Technologies team in Lynchburg, VA.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading NQA-1 Commercial Grade Dedication efforts for components used in nuclear applications. This role will involve preparing and executing Commercial Grade Dedication Plans, coordinating with stakeholders to define critical characteristics and acceptance criteria, and engaging with external suppliers to define and execute testing and inspections.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and execute Commercial Grade Dedication Plans
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to define critical characteristics and acceptance criteria
  • Engage with external suppliers to define and execute testing and inspections
  • Create design models and detailed drawings using CAD software
  • Provide engineering support for assembly, testing, and inspection of components and systems
  • Assist in the development and qualification of advanced manufacturing technologies
  • Prepare test reports and qualification reports
  • Support engineering procurement efforts and control of components
  • Inspect and characterize components
  • Communicate task/project status to stakeholders
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (e.g. Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, other engineering-related disciplines)
  • At least two years of related experience
  • Demonstrated experience in Commercial Grade Dedication Plans and associated activities
  • Proficiency in Solidworks (or comparable) 3D CAD
  • Knowledge of Engineered Systems & Systems Design (a plus)
  • Ability to work in a team environment to solve complex problems
  • Clear, concise, accurate, and timely written and verbal communication
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc)
  • U.S. citizenship
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance
