As the Director of Government Relations, you will play a critical role in shaping the company's legislative agenda and public policy initiatives at the federal level.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement federal advocacy priorities and strategies to support Ecolab's business objectives.
- Lead and coordinate external advocacy efforts with legislative bodies, regulatory agencies, and executive branch decision-makers.
- Analyze and monitor legislation, regulations, and trends impacting Ecolab or its customers, preparing briefing materials and policy write-ups for internal and external stakeholders.
- Establish and maintain relationships with policymakers, positioning Ecolab as a thought leader through webinars, panels, and testimony.
- Represent Ecolab at targeted conferences, conventions, and meetings, building internal relationships with key business divisions and support functions.
- Manage federal lobbyists, executing strategic plans and reviewing their performance.
- Participate in trade associations, joining relevant committees and pursuing leadership positions, and build working relationships with GR/Policy and Regulatory staff.
- Develop a political engagement strategy, including PAC giving, vetting reputational risks, and attending fundraisers and political meetings.
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum 8 years of government relations and/or legislative experience, preferably in Congress, a federal agency, trade association, or lobbying firm.
- Thorough understanding of policy processes, including legislation development, political environments, and rulemaking processes.
- Demonstrated ability to lead executive-level discussions with legislative leaders and impact legislation, regulation, and bipartisanship negotiation.
- 20% travel required to company locations and trade association events.
- Background in working on advocacy or policy issues around energy, climate, chemicals, life sciences, healthcare, or the pharmaceutical industry.
- Previous experience managing lobbyists and participating in grassroots/advocacy efforts.
- Team-oriented, creative, assertive, problem-solver, self-starter, fun, and able to manage several projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated relationships with legislative leadership and executive branch policy-leaders.
