Role Overview:

As a Project Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing heavy civil projects, particularly those involving tunneling and underground construction. Your primary responsibilities will include directing self-perform activities and coordinating subcontractor efforts to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Project Award:
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to identify and evaluate new project opportunities.
  • Engage in the estimating and proposal processes for upcoming projects, ensuring thorough preparation of tender packages.
  • Review project specifications and plans to develop effective means and methods for project execution.
  • Assist in formulating subcontractor scope packages and pricing strategies.
  • Work with the Preconstruction Group to establish project schedules, budgets, and work breakdown structures.
Post-Project Award:
  • Facilitate the transition of awarded projects from the estimating team to the project execution team.
  • Negotiate terms and scopes of work with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Develop comprehensive engineering plans and manage submittals for project compliance.
  • Lead and direct engineering staff and subcontractors to meet project objectives.
  • Support safety initiatives and ensure adherence to safety standards on-site.
  • Contribute to the Quality Control Program and assist in its implementation on the job site.
  • Oversee procurement of project materials and manage relationships with consultants and engineers.
  • Ensure timely updates to project schedules and monitor subcontractor progress.
  • Prepare and deliver project reports to the home office.
  • Manage the procurement of necessary project equipment.
  • Assist in change management processes by gathering information and developing pricing for project modifications.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support project success.
Additional Requirements:
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to travel for meetings and site assessments.
  • Physical capability to navigate outdoor construction sites and lift materials as required.
