Job Summary

The College of the Holy Cross is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Public Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our public safety department, you will be responsible for providing protection to the college community members and property, enforcing laws and regulations, and performing other related duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a high level of customer service to the college community, incorporating community policing principles and practices.
  • Enforce all local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations, as well as college policies and procedures.
  • Perform a variety of duties to maintain a safe and secure environment, including responding to emergency calls, conducting investigations, and providing support to other departments as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with other public safety personnel, college staff, and students to achieve a safe and secure campus environment.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices and procedures.
Requirements
  • Previous experience in law enforcement, preferably in a college or university environment.
  • Graduation from a full-time MPTC ROC academy or Bridge Academy, with no break in police employment for more than 3 years at the date of application.
  • Valid SSPO warrant status and a valid Class D driver's license.
  • Ability to obtain certification in basic first aid and CPR, as well as a Massachusetts License to Carry Firearms - Class A Large Capacity permit.
  • Successful completion of various fitness for duty assessments, including a comprehensive background investigation, physical exam, and psychological evaluations.
