Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The Cardiopulmonary Care Specialist is tasked with executing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in accordance with established departmental protocols for patients ranging from infants to the elderly. Key responsibilities encompass:

  • Conducting thorough patient assessments and developing tailored care plans.
  • Utilizing advanced clinical skills to address complex patient care scenarios.
  • Contributing to the formulation of policies, procedures, and patient protocols.
  • Providing education and coaching to nursing staff and support personnel.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary patient care discussions and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Managing and performing EEG, EKG, and EMG procedures as necessary.

In alignment with our mission, the Cardiopulmonary Care Specialist is a professional caregiver who is accountable for the comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for patients and their families. Adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and institutional policies is essential, including prompt reporting of any potential violations.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Completion of an accredited two-year Respiratory Care Program is preferred or current enrollment in such a program.
  • Current or pending licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of California.
  • Registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care or achieve registration within one year of employment.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required within six months of employment.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within six months of employment.
  • For those assigned to EEG, EKG, or EMG, certification must be obtained within the last five years or possess one year of relevant experience.
