Summary

The Process Engineer is responsible for optimizing the use of facilities, equipment, materials, and personnel to enhance operational efficiencies, improve quality yields, and minimize operating expenses. This role applies engineering principles and Lean Six Sigma methodologies to foster continuous improvement within operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead engineering initiatives, ensuring effective planning, coordination, and execution of projects while adhering to operational timelines.
  • Utilize Design of Experiments (DOE) techniques to evaluate processes and materials, employing statistical tools to analyze results and support recommendations.
  • Continuously work towards minimizing waste in the manufacturing process.
  • Develop comprehensive procedures for various processes and equipment maintenance, ensuring adherence to established protocols.
  • Oversee operations within designated laboratories.
  • Analyze organizational structures and project details to clarify roles and responsibilities, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Conduct precise time studies to ascertain labor needs, establish work measurement systems, and analyze work samples to create labor utilization standards.
  • Evaluate workforce deployment, facility layouts, and operational metrics such as production costs and schedules to optimize resource utilization.
  • Propose strategies for enhancing workforce efficiency and reducing material and utility waste through job restructuring and workflow optimization.
  • Collaborate with management and engineering teams to implement proposed plans and improvements.
  • Establish management systems for cost analysis, financial planning, and job evaluation.
  • Coordinate equipment installation and laboratory redesign, ensuring timely execution and adherence to management schedules.

Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in optical manufacturing.
  • Experience with process control using statistical analysis and DOE.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, electronic controllers, or automated systems in manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Arena Simulation software programming.

Physical Demands:

Work is performed in a laboratory and office environment, involving exposure to various chemicals and mechanical components. Physical requirements include the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, lift and manipulate objects, and maintain visual and auditory acuity.
