Position Overview:
The Clinical Nursing Supervisor plays a crucial role in the formulation and execution of patient care initiatives, protocols, and procedures that outline the assessment, evaluation, and fulfillment of patients' nursing care, treatment, and service requirements.
This role emphasizes the importance of cultural diversity by ensuring the provision of high-quality, equitable, and culturally sensitive patient-centered care; fostering and sustaining an inclusive workplace environment that values and respects diversity; and guaranteeing that cultural competence training is integrated into the orientation process for new hires and continues throughout their employment to address the needs of the diverse patient population served.
Qualifications:
Licensure and Certification:
- Current unrestricted RN licensure in accordance with state regulations
- BLS certification with ACLS certification to be acquired within one year of employment
- CRRN certification to be obtained within a year of meeting eligibility criteria for the examination
Education, Training, and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or a related discipline preferred
- Minimum of two years of recent experience in an inpatient healthcare setting
- Experience in leadership roles such as charge nurse or in a lead capacity with responsibilities for interim reporting, issue resolution, and accountability for outcomes
Physical Demands:
- Adequate visual acuity and effective communication skills.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds and push/pull a minimum of 30 pounds, which includes handling medical supplies and equipment as well as assisting in the transfer and repositioning of patients. Reasonable assistance may be requested for tasks exceeding these minimum requirements.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficient in speaking, reading, writing, and effective communication.
- Capable of coordinating, analyzing, observing, making decisions, and meeting deadlines with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Competent in managing multiple competing priorities while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
Work Environment:
- Indoor, climate-controlled, smoke-free setting with occasional outdoor exposure.
- Potential exposure to blood and body fluids may be required.
- Accessible for individuals with disabilities.
- May experience stressful situations occasionally.
Productivity Standards:
- Adheres to established attendance policies.
- Complies with hospital/department dress code, including wearing an ID badge.
- May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings, or night shifts as necessary.
- May be required to work on religious and/or legal holidays as scheduled.
- Required to work as needed during disaster situations, including before, during, or after a disaster.
- May need to stay after scheduled hours to assist during disaster situations until relief arrives.
- May be assigned additional duties by the supervisor as necessary.
