Senior Maintenance Worker

We are seeking a highly skilled and physically fit Senior Maintenance Worker to join our team at the City of San Angelo Texas. As a key member of our maintenance crew, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance and repair of our parks, streets, facilities, and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain various equipment such as rotary and/or reel mowers, tractors, skid steers, weed-eaters, trimmers, chain and pole saws, shovels, hoes, rakes, pruning shears, truck, trailer, blower, and other equipment involved in the maintenance of assigned areas.
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of parks and sports field areas performing duties such as pesticide and fertilizer applications, aerification of turfgrass, mowing, string trimming, picking up trash, building maintenance, fence installation/removal, edging, planting, weeding flower beds, applying water to lawn area and flower beds, pruning trees, infield clay maintenance, etc.
- May assist in the installation of sprinkler systems and perform irrigation repairs.
- Position includes light construction, application of various pesticides, and other related/assigned duties as required.
- Operates a variety of specialized equipment and performs general manual labor tasks in order to maintain parks, streets, infrastructure and City facilities as assigned; duties will vary according to job assignment and individual skills; responds to emergencies as needed.
- High School diploma or equivalent; and two years of general work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess a valid Texas Driver License with a good driving record.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
Work is performed outdoors. Ability to perform strenuous labor for extended periods of time; work in extreme weather conditions. Requires constant physical efforts, and ability to lift and carry up to 117 pounds.
