Aviation Technology Associates (AVTECH) is seeking an Aircraft Engineering Specialist II.

Position Overview:

This role is pivotal in steering the successful execution of significant engineering initiatives or devising research in areas of substantial scope and intricacy that bolster the development and production of company offerings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identifies and resolves complex issues innovatively, establishing standards and guidelines for various engineering tasks.
  • Adopts a balanced approach to problem-solving, considering technical product, cost, and schedule.
  • Operates with minimal supervision; work is evaluated from a long-term perspective for desired outcomes.
  • Exhibits discretion in defining technical objectives of assignments, making decisions and recommendations acknowledged as authoritative.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Actively seeks to enhance daily processes, ensuring all tasks align with customer expectations.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of advancements in the specialty field and related aircraft domains to propose innovations that enhance quality and effectiveness.
  • Performs other assigned duties as necessary.
Ideal Candidate Profile:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to fulfill the essential functions of the role.
  • 10 years in a specific technical discipline or 15 years of broad engineering experience across multiple technical areas with a Bachelor's degree. Experience credit for related advanced degrees is limited to 2 years for a Master's and 4 years for a PhD in applicable fields.
  • Advanced degree in an engineering-related field is preferred.
Essential Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of adhesive chemistry, bonding mechanisms, surface preparation, and the development of material and process specifications for aircraft applications, including associated FAA certification requirements.
  • Experience collaborating with an ODA or directly with the FAA is advantageous.
  • Proven experience in the development, qualification, and certification of adhesives for aircraft interior components, encompassing both structural and non-structural applications.
  • Skilled in creating and maintaining specifications for aircraft interior materials.
  • Proficient in analytical instruments (FTIR, TGA, DSC, DMA) for adhesive characterization, with the ability to interpret test data.
  • Adept at resolving adhesive-related issues promptly.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with suppliers on new adhesive development.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of adhesives, sealants, and tapes for aircraft interior applications.
  • Proficient with CMH-17 procedures and capable of performing statistical analysis of testing data to generate design allowables for aircraft interior materials.
  • Strong communication skills in both technical writing and reading.
