Job Overview

SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Admitting Manager, the Patient Access Coordinator is responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight to the Patient Access Department. This role involves ensuring the registration process is completed accurately, courteously, and efficiently. The Coordinator is tasked with entering patient information into the system with precision, executing all preadmission protocols, and managing patient discharges accurately. Maintaining comprehensive logs for Admitting, Outpatient, and Discharge processes is essential, as is the secure handling of patient valuables in accordance with established procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Calculate and communicate Patient Financial Responsibilities, issue receipts, and collect payments with utmost accuracy.
  • Conduct patient transfer procedures and verify cash box amounts daily to ensure accuracy.
  • Act as the PBX Operator, utilizing scripted responses to manage incoming calls efficiently.
  • Respond promptly to alarms and emergency calls, demonstrating a thorough understanding of departmental policies and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 6 months of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Certifications: Must obtain MAB certification within 90 days of hire and maintain it annually.
  • Language Proficiency: Full command of the English language, both verbal and written.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physical tasks, including heavy lifting, and possess the sensory acuity necessary for patient care functions.
