Job Summary

Langan, a leading provider of land development engineering and environmental consulting services, is seeking a highly skilled Environmental Planner/CEQA Practitioner/Project Manager to join its collaborative team in Santa Barbara, CA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct CEQA analysis and prepare associated documents, including Initial Studies, Mitigated Negative Declarations, Environmental Impact Reports, and other technical reports.
  • Conduct CEQA analysis for programmatic plans and documents, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and improve practical knowledge of CEQA and NEPA guidelines and regulations, staying up-to-date on industry developments.
  • Conduct constraints analyses and comprehensive environmental due diligence reviews, identifying potential risks and opportunities.
  • Prepare and support technical studies, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Review and integrate technical investigation methods and findings into CEQA documents and permit applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare documents that are defensible, meeting regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Manage and deliver on multiple projects and tasks within specific budgets, schedules, and deadlines, ensuring timely completion and client satisfaction.
  • Effectively organize, write, and edit draft proposals, reports, and other documents, communicating complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Participate in the identification and pursuit of new clients and new prospective projects, developing business opportunities and relationships.
  • Develop opportunities for additional work within existing projects, increasing revenue and client satisfaction.
  • Attend business development meetings to encourage relationships with new and existing clients, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
  • Provide direct oversight and management of staff for specific project assignments, ensuring effective team performance and client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other work groups across office locations and disciplines, promoting a culture of teamwork and innovation.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental planning, or other related technical degree.
  • 5+ years of related work experience, with a proven track record of leading CEQA analyses and permitting.
  • Preference given to those with practical experience in preparing NEPA documentation.
  • Strong working relationships with agency staff, with a comprehensive understanding of regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent public speaking, written, and verbal communication skills, with a strong attention to detail and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment, with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and clients.
  • Ability to work evenings and/or weekends as projects require, with reliable transportation for client meetings and job site visits.
