Position Overview

The Imaging Services Assistant plays a vital role in supporting radiology technologists in providing care to patients before and after imaging procedures. This position involves assisting with patient transfers, monitoring, and ensuring timely imaging services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the professional, clinical, and technical skills required for the assigned department.
  • Provide continuous observation of patients in the immediate care area, promptly reporting any changes in their condition to the appropriate medical staff.
  • Facilitate communication between nursing staff and technologists, confirming patient appointments and screening as necessary.
  • Access and review patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR) prior to examinations, presenting relevant data to technologists.
  • Assist radiology technologists by entering necessary information into the O2 system.
  • Maintain a patient-centered approach, aligning with the mission and values of the organization.
  • Prepare imaging rooms for patient exams to ensure efficient turnover.
  • Transport patients to and from the radiology department, ensuring their comfort and safety during transit.
  • Perform daily tasks in an organized and accurate manner, including coordinating schedules for inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Educate patients and their families about radiology procedures and what to expect.
  • Retrieve and manage electronic patient folders, accessing reports and exam data as needed.
  • Maintain inventory levels of supplies and place orders as required.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions promptly to ensure operational efficiency.
  • These responsibilities are essential functions of the role and may vary based on departmental needs.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Less than one year of experience in caring for patients in acute, emergency, or long-term care settings.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or Licensed Practical Nurse.

Required Certifications

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficient in using computer systems for data retrieval and management.
