This position is situated within the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation's Office of Negotiations and Restructuring, specifically in the Plan Compliance Department, Multi-Employer Program Division.

Eligibility

This position is open to recent graduates who have completed their educational requirements within the last two years or veterans who have been unable to apply due to military service obligations.

Duties

The selected candidate will:

  • Conduct audits of multiemployer pension plans in accordance with relevant regulations.
  • Review financial data, including general ledgers and bank statements, to assess cash availability and reconcile accounts.
  • Assist senior auditors in verifying benefit computations to ensure compliance with plan provisions.
  • Examine participant and financial data for insolvent multiemployer pension plans.
  • Gather financial data necessary for determining financial assistance payments.
Requirements

Conditions of Employment:

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Applicants may undergo a personnel security background investigation.
  • Selective Service registration is required unless exempt.
  • Adherence to all applicable laws and regulations is mandatory.
Qualifications

Applicants may qualify based on education, specialized experience, or a combination of both.

Specialized Experience:

At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-05 grade level or equivalent in the private sector is required, focusing on reviewing and analyzing audit or accounting data.

Education:

A degree in accounting or a related field with sufficient coursework in accounting is required.
