Position Overview
An Inspector General Financial Auditor-NRO is responsible for conducting and supervising performance and financial audits aimed at enhancing the operational effectiveness and efficiency of the National Reconnaissance Office.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be a U.S. citizen (dual U.S. citizens are also eligible)
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Willingness to relocate to the Washington, DC area
- Capability to complete security and medical evaluations
Key Responsibilities
As an Inspector General Financial Auditor assigned to the NRO, your duties will encompass:
- Developing and authoring audit guides
- Documenting audit findings in alignment with established government auditing standards
- Formulating audit conclusions and recommendations to enhance NRO operations
Additional responsibilities include:
- Planning and executing audits
- Assessing risks and testing controls
- Collecting and analyzing data
- Reviewing and evaluating documentation
- Managing resources and identifying issues
Utilizing your expertise in accounting and management principles, you will assess programs and activities while proposing suitable actions. This role necessitates effective communication with senior NRO and contractor officials.
You will perform various audit types, including performance, attestation, and financial audits, and conduct special reviews of NRO programs and activities. Oversight of an Independent Public Accountant (IPA) and support for other Office of the Inspector General (OIG) functions may also be required.

The CIA recruits Inspector General Financial Auditors at multiple career levels, from entry to senior positions, offering a dedicated training and development program tailored for growth in the auditing field. Opportunities for advancement beyond specific areas of expertise are available, along with a deeper understanding of NRO management intricacies.
Auditors at the expert level will contribute to additional corporate-level Inspector General initiatives, including serving as the Auditor-In-Charge (AIC).

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in relevant fields such as Accounting, Business Management (with at least 24 semester hours in auditing or accounting), or Finance
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

- Familiarity with Government Auditing Standards
- Ability to analyze and assess complex issues
