Position Overview:
Advocate Aurora Health is in search of an Operating Room Specialist to join our dedicated team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Function as a vital member of the surgical team during procedures.
  • Ensure the preparation and upkeep of a sterile environment.
  • Assist in maintaining the Operating Room's readiness.
  • Uphold a professional atmosphere within the workplace.
  • Take responsibility for personal professional growth.

Position Requirements:
Applicants must have graduated from an accredited Surgical Technologist Program recognized by ARC~STSA (CAAHEP~ Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs).

This role requires an understanding of the needs and behaviors of diverse patient age groups, including:
  • Child growth and development.
  • Normal adolescent behavior patterns.
  • Signs of aging.

Prior experience with various age demographics is preferred.

Essential Skills:
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated fine motor skills.
  • Capability to wear surgical masks and gloves comfortably.
  • Auditory skills to comprehend speech that may be muffled.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Certified Surgical Technologist certification from the NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) is required within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to thrive in high-pressure situations.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, including holidays, and be on call as necessary.
  • Capacity to work in a fast-paced environment with strict time constraints.
  • Ability to communicate effectively while wearing a mask.

Physical Requirements:
For positions involving direct patient care, the ability to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted is necessary. For patient lifts exceeding this weight, appropriate patient handling equipment must be utilized with assistance from at least one other associate when available.
