Position Overview

The Procurement Specialist oversees the operations of trade partners and material suppliers. They serve as the primary liaison for Rausch Coleman Homes in our relationships with trade partners and provide supply information to the construction and sales teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reports directly to the Purchasing and Estimating Manager (if assigned) and indirectly to the Division Manager.
  • Ensures the accuracy of data integrity within our internal systems.
  • Handles negotiations with trade partners.
  • Ensures compliance of trade partners with company construction standards.
  • Manages job cost assignments.
  • Oversees material product selection and quantity takeoff assignments.
  • Manages the Pre-Start Report and related processes.
  • Orders essential documents such as plot plans.
  • Marks up blueprints and prepares files for permitting.
  • Prepares job start packets and issues Purchase Orders and Work Orders to initiate construction.
  • Performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Ability to comprehend mathematical equations.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain construction blueprints and floor plans.
  • Working knowledge of the fundamental materials and methods utilized by trade partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct a house takeoff and assign material quantities.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated with effective problem-solving abilities.
  • Professional demeanor in dress, manners, and conduct.
  • Familiarity with standard computer applications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of experience in a purchasing role, with a strong preference for knowledge in production home building.
  • Experience in negotiating construction contracts.
  • Solid understanding of job cost details associated with home construction.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and resolve discrepancies in construction plans and specifications.
  • Experience in a customer service role.
  • Ability to assess construction job costs and identify opportunities to optimize material quantities.
  • Ability to evaluate alternative construction methods for cost efficiency.
Physical Requirements
