Key Responsibilities
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Hospice is tasked with delivering exceptional patient care and executing technical nursing procedures in the comfort of the patient's residence.
- Administers skilled nursing services under the guidance of a registered nurse on a daily basis.
- Dispenses prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations as necessary.
- Assists the physician and/or registered nurse in executing specialized procedures as required.
- Supports patients with daily living activities and promotes self-care practices.
- Communicates pertinent changes in the patient's condition to the physician and relevant personnel as needed.
- Conducts complex wound care when in-service training has been documented for specific procedures.
- Receives and adheres to physician orders within the scope of practice for an LPN and the standards of hospice care, without altering the care plan.
Educational Background: Associate Degree or equivalent certification
Licensure and Certification Requirements: Yes
Licensure Requirements
- Valid and unrestricted licensure in the state of practice.
- Current CPR certification is mandatory.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and vehicle insurance, along with access to reliable transportation.
