Game Design Manager

Meta is seeking an experienced Game Design Manager to join our team. As a Game Design Manager, you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of game designers to prototype, design, and ship first-party experiences across Horizon Worlds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build and manage a talented, diverse, inclusive team of game designers that consistently delivers on projects and is well-balanced across a range of design skill sets
  • Responsible for overall team performance and health, resource allocation, project prioritization, and building a culture of design excellence
  • Lead and oversee the implementation of the user experience from product conception to launch - as well as post-launch design support, while partnering with PMs, engineers, researchers, creatives, content strategists, and QA
  • Contribute to strategic decisions around the future direction of Meta's products, working with the Creative and Product teams
  • Effectively communicate your team's product goals (both within the team and outside the team), and connect related projects across the company so that problems or joint decisions can be resolved quickly
  • Design end-to-end experiences with satisfying and novel core mechanics, loops, level layouts, and systems
  • Proactively solicit and provide feedback from designers and a broader product team in order to continually raise our bar for quality, while also taking on mentorship
  • Advocate for game design and help us build a great, welcoming, and inclusive game design community within Reality Labs and throughout Meta
Requirements:
  • 6+ years of game design experience or a minimum of 2 shipped titles on any platform that have been successful (highly rated, critically acclaimed, award-winning, etc.)
  • 3+ years of design leadership experience with direct reports under your guidance and leadership
  • 6+ years of experience working collaboratively with product, engineering, design, content and user research teams
  • Experience in leading design strategy and vision, with experience in developing goals and also fluency in executing such as tuning the feel of the game or low fidelity prototyping
  • Experience leading end-to-end development efforts and designing games from concept to launch and live ops
  • Experience with 3D development engines such as Unity or Unreal
  • Experience representing work to a broader product team and other leaders, clearly and succinctly articulating the goals and concepts
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience developing or designing VR or AR games
  • General design knowledge across a range of design specializations
  • Knowledge of 3D art and visual design principles
  • Experience utilizing research and data to drive strategy and decision making
Compensation:

$165,000/year to $231,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
