Position Summary

We are seeking a talented Postdoctoral Researcher specializing in superconducting quantum technologies. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in microfabrication and device characterization to enhance the performance of scalable solid-state qubit devices. Your work will involve developing and implementing microfabrication techniques while establishing critical connections between processing methods and qubit performance metrics. This position is part of our Quantum Coherent Device Physics group within the Condensed Matter Section of the Physics Division.

Key Responsibilities

As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will:

1. Design, fabricate, and evaluate quantum coherent superconducting devices.
2. Enhance qubit performance through meticulous experimental design and statistical analysis.
3. Push the boundaries of superconducting qubits and circuitry technologies.
4. Publish findings in reputable peer-reviewed journals and engage in international conferences.
5. Present research updates during team meetings and discussions.
6. Pursue independent research initiatives that complement ongoing projects and collaborate with a diverse group of scientists and engineers.
7. Undertake additional tasks as required.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, you should possess:

- A PhD in Experimental Physics, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in solid-state qubit microfabrication and device measurement.
- Proficiency in control software and data analysis using Python or similar programming languages.
- Strong ability to work autonomously on technical challenges and contribute to team objectives with innovative solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with a diverse range of professionals.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective teamwork and technical reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with electron-beam lithography.
- Familiarity with Ansys HFSS or Comsol software.
- Background in the design, characterization, control, or simulation of superconducting devices.

Additional Information

This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level security clearance, necessitating U.S. citizenship. Candidates selected for this role will undergo a Federal background investigation to assess eligibility for access to classified information.
