Key Responsibilities:
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will:
- Design and implement experiments to investigate electromagnetic and radiofrequency phenomena.
- Conduct extensive experimental campaigns and gather critical data.
- Utilize advanced analysis techniques on large datasets.
- Engage in simulation activities to support research objectives.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of scientists to achieve common research goals.
- Conduct independent research that aligns with group interests and fosters collaboration with both internal and external experts.
- Stay informed on the latest technical literature in relevant fields.
- Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences and seminars.
- Adhere to all safety, security, and operational protocols.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you should possess:
- U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Department of Energy Q-level security clearance.
- A PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- A solid research background in physics or electrical engineering.
- Experience in conducting laboratory experiments.
- Proficiency in data analysis programming languages such as IDL, Python, or MATLAB.
- Demonstrated ability to develop independent research projects, evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed literature.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting at seminars and meetings.
- Initiative and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to collaborative teamwork.
- Experience in developing research proposals.
Preferred Qualifications:
We also value:
- Knowledge or practical experience with energetic materials, high explosives, or shock wave phenomena.
- Experience with electrical breakdown theory or practice.
- Familiarity with fluid simulations.
Position Information:
This is a Postdoctoral appointment with the potential for extension up to three years, available to candidates who have completed their PhD by the time of hire.
