Position Overview:
Join Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) as a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of Applied Plasma Science, focusing on national security initiatives. Key Responsibilities:
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will:
  • Design and implement experiments to investigate electromagnetic and radiofrequency phenomena.
  • Conduct extensive experimental campaigns and gather critical data.
  • Utilize advanced analysis techniques on large datasets.
  • Engage in simulation activities to support research objectives.
  • Collaborate with a diverse team of scientists to achieve common research goals.
  • Conduct independent research that aligns with group interests and fosters collaboration with both internal and external experts.
  • Stay informed on the latest technical literature in relevant fields.
  • Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences and seminars.
  • Adhere to all safety, security, and operational protocols.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, you should possess:
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a Department of Energy Q-level security clearance.
  • A PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • A solid research background in physics or electrical engineering.
  • Experience in conducting laboratory experiments.
  • Proficiency in data analysis programming languages such as IDL, Python, or MATLAB.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop independent research projects, evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed literature.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting at seminars and meetings.
  • Initiative and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to collaborative teamwork.
  • Experience in developing research proposals.

Preferred Qualifications:
We also value:
  • Knowledge or practical experience with energetic materials, high explosives, or shock wave phenomena.
  • Experience with electrical breakdown theory or practice.
  • Familiarity with fluid simulations.

Position Information:
This is a Postdoctoral appointment with the potential for extension up to three years, available to candidates who have completed their PhD by the time of hire.
