Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Housing Specialist to join our team at the Housing Authority of New Orleans. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and performing a variety of case management functions related to the HCV/Section 8 program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver superior customer service to participants, landlords, and other stakeholders;
  • Perform admissions, re-certifications, interim adjustments, rent increases, leasing, portability, project-based, and single-room occupancy voucher program requirements;
  • Investigate and resolve participant and landlord complaints;
  • Communicate with applicants, participants, landlords, and co-workers in a courteous and professional manner;
  • Provide information on status of rent, damage claims, property inspections, provisions of the lease and contract, program regulations, Housing Authority policies, and procedures;
  • Enter correct information and forward accurate and timely 50058 form for submission to HUD;
  • Process and review Section 8 PB program applicants; verify completeness and accuracy of information;
  • Schedule Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections; update database and other files;
  • Monitor and maintain the PB vacancy report, supporting documentation for the program, contracts, and other activity reports;
  • Communicate with Site Managers, and relay information on property vacancies, transfers, and eligibility and availability information;
  • Perform associated administrative support duties;
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and Housing Choice Voucher Specialist Certification is preferred;
  • Two years of college coursework and three years of experience in public housing, Section 8, case management, apartment management;
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HUD HQS, inspection procedures, and Housing Authority Section 8 policies and procedures;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to complete complex and detailed tasks in a timely manner;
  • Ability to plan and prioritize duties;
Salary Information

The estimated salary for this position is $ $55,000 - $65,000 per year, based on market rates and the level of experience required. This salary range is competitive with similar positions in the industry.
