PURPOSE: To exemplify and ensure exceptional customer service across all facets of the role. Responsible for delivering high-quality products that surpass customer expectations. Possesses a comprehensive understanding of departmental operations and maintains a sufficient supply of fresh inventory.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Fosters an environment of enthusiastic customer engagement with a focus on prompt and friendly service.
  • Assists customers by providing product recommendations.
  • Utilizes suggestive selling techniques through various communication channels including phone, in-store announcements, and direct customer interactions.
  • Handles incoming calls with professionalism and resolves customer complaints, escalating to the Store Director when necessary.
  • Oversees total store operations in the absence of the Store Director.
  • Plans daily operations for the General Merchandise department, ensuring adherence to company procedures and profitability.
  • Creates and maintains attractive merchandise displays, ensuring the rotation and disposal of outdated or spoiled items.
  • Implements effective promotional strategies and seasonal displays.
  • Monitors employee productivity and evaluates overall performance.
  • Schedules staff to guarantee adequate coverage and service levels.
  • Provides training to employees on store policies, sales techniques, and record-keeping practices.
  • Identifies and mentors employees with potential for advancement.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and guidelines.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper product code dating and inventory control.
  • Prepares sales and inventory reports, conducting physical inventory assessments biannually.
  • Manages inventory levels to ensure quality and freshness in accordance with division directives.
  • Supervises the processing of reclamation and maintains organized conditions in storage areas.
  • Controls shrinkage and costs effectively.
  • Operates necessary equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks.
  • Performs receiving duties, including verifying orders and inspecting product quality.
  • Maintains accurate records and logs, ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards.
  • Participates in sales meetings to communicate goals and performance metrics.
  • Adheres to grooming standards and dress code.
  • Responsible for executing all job duties with integrity and accuracy.

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Must possess a solid understanding of company practices and departmental policies. Ability to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching are required. Must have good manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Mental alertness is necessary for safe and accurate task completion. Knowledge of basic mathematics and product handling is required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Typically works in a temperature-controlled setting with frequent exposure to refrigerated items. Occasional travel may be necessary.
