Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled OSP Telecommunications Cable Splicer to join our team at Omniscius Consulting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in telecommunications and outside plant construction, with experience in fiber-optic and copper networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, test, and repair aerial, underground, fiber, and copper routes.
  • Manage OSP projects to meet Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command Shore Installations Process Handbook guidelines.
  • Prepare, manage, and maintain project documentation, maps, and CAD drawings.
  • Perform OSP surveys to support construction projects.
  • Research and acquire permits, rights of way, and easement agreements.
  • Respond to customer requests for information and plan for facility relocations.
  • Review and record As-Built documentation.
  • Attend customer meetings and perform site surveys as necessary.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in fiber-optic/telecommunications/telecom construction industry.
  • Knowledge of outside plant activities, including fiber cable design, pole line construction, and conduit system design.
  • Ability to read and understand as-built prints and identify conflicts with existing outside plant facilities.
  • Experience with GIS, ESRI, and Shapefile functionality.
  • Knowledge of National Electric Safety Code and OSP construction and engineering techniques.
  • Proficient with fiber/copper test equipment and OTDR/TDR and Fusion splicing machines.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in all weather conditions and confined spaces.
  • Work construction in a physically demanding atmosphere.

Education and Certifications:

  • OSHA Confined Space Entry Training Certification.

Additional Information:

  • During emergencies and special projects, assist at the BCO Gulfport, MS.
